I am so giddy I can hardly type this. I rushed to put the kids to bed just so I could share this news. If any of you are Project Runway fans, like me, you’ll understand my excitement. Jay McCarroll has just released a line of fabric with Free Spirit Fabrics. He was the first season winner of Project Runway and is still my favorite designer from all the seasons. I loved his sense of humor. I couldn’t get enough of him, and to top it off, he had an absolutely amazing collection that he showed at New York Fashion Week that year. We didn’t hear much from him in the last few years. I admit that I would check his site every once in a while. It was so sad to think that someone so talented had been chewed up and spit out by the anorexic fashion gods of high fashion. But alas, we now know that he was just working hard behind the scenes. (I just read that he’s teaching at his alma mater Philadelphia University).

Well, to say the least. I’m excited. His new lines are very retro, funky and colorful….just like Jay. It’s not your usual quilt fabric, but that’s what I love about it. Just think of the fun baby stuff this will make. It makes my head spin with ideas. See what you think. Here’s a little taste of the ones I like. (You classic lovers might think this is way over the top, but trust me, done the right way, these fabrics are going to be fab!)
