Mind boggling weekend retreat

Where oh where do I start. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing the Startup Princess Retreat was this weekend, in Midway, Utah at the posh Zermatt hotel. Not only did we learn about online social networking, marketing to woman, online PR and Word of Mouth marketing, but we got to meet these amazing women. I could write a novel just trying to explain the mind boggling information that I learned.
So, I decided to just do a short introduction and go into detail about these Fairy Godmothers in following posts. “Fairy Godmother” you say??? Yes, they are god sends and they really make miracles happen when they wave their wands. Those of us that are newbie’s starting up our companies are called “Princesses”. (We can do some sparkly thing when we wave our wands too).

(Borrowed this great pic from extremely talented Sarah Janes Studios..hope it’s okay Sarah!)
The amazing woman who started it all (way over on the far right) is Kelly King Anderson at Startup Princess. I can’t even imagine the work it took to pull this off, but she did it, seamlessly.
Our uber chic and expert guest speakers were: (From left to right)
Holly Buchanan who is the co-author of The Soccer Mom Myth. If you’re in the marketing/design world at all, this is a must read. (Also, gotta watch the hilarious video located on the bottom right of the Soccer Mom Myth website). She opened our eyes to different personality types and how they respond to information. Is your website designed for these different personality types?
Next in line is the famous Gabrielle Blair aka Designmom and co-creator of Kirtsy (the girly version of Digg). She couldn’t have been more sweet and willing to take us under her wing. (Pictured below is Gabrielle and me).
Third in line is…Barbara Jones of One2One Network. She was so personable, powerful and oozed that NY chic. You couldn’t help but love her. She presented on Word of Mouth Marketing.
Then you have ….. drum roll please…..Gwen Bell. I have never met anyone as infectious and funny as Gwen. Needless to say, she is so knowledgeable of social media, wow, blew my mind. She was recently voted one of the top 50 most influential people in social media. If she’ll let me, I’d love to be her BFF.

(I borrowed a pic from Gwen herself). Here she is sharing some love with Createdbymom.com‘s baby. Notice her Cheeky & Swank shirt. I’ve gotta a great twitter typo story, but I’ll save that for another day.
And last is Janet Meiners Thaeler of Newspapergirl and OrangeSoda.com. She was sooo sweet to me and I’m so blessed to have met her. Thanks Janet! Her presentation was on online press releases.
So, not so short, but really sweet. Stay tuned..more to come.
